Project: High-Availability for a Secure E-Business Platform

The client has recognized the opportunities of conducting business via the internet. It has successfully moved more than 50% of its core business to a web-enabled environment. Vulnerability to virus attacks and instability of the environment resulted in significant downtime and direct negative revenue impact on the business. The self-hosted environment proved to be non-scalable and inadequate to satisfy the growing business needs. It was also vulnerable to virus attacks.

The client wanted to utilize secure Web based technologies & remote access to serve the customers better and to empower the field agency force. The lack of secure telecommuting and encrypted connectivity to remote offices and agents prevented the business from integrating and automating their sales force. The inadequate environment resulted in slow response time for consumers and had none or limited integration capabilities of secure data exchange with numerous brokers and agents. IT staff had no means for real time monitoring of the (web-) resources for intrusion / hacking attempts, usage of strongest client and server based authentication for certain applications.
